                                                      Falling

Fortieth floor. The sign had said No Roof Access. Ha, well, I found a way up. Just had to take the ladder when the stairs stopped. And it was so easy to step off that edge.

Thirty-eighth floor. No more phone bill, no more house payment, no more screaming demands on my time. Don’t have to worry about paying that deductible on my insurance because that drunk driver sideswiped me.

Thirty-fifth floor. It will be really nice, actually. I won’t have to worry about that upcoming personnel evaluation anymore either. Ha! Won’t that cheese the boss off.

Thirtieth floor. At least my life insurance will be able to hold Katie until she can find some better place to hang out than my stuffy bachelor pad. It’s too cramped in there, not even enough room to cook. Not that I have to worry about it anymore.

Twenty-fourth floor. Macaroni salad. I should have waited until tomorrow. Katie told me she was going to make macaroni salad tonight. I love Katie’s macaroni salad.

Eighteenth floor. I love Katie too. I mean, we had that fight last night, but it was mostly my fault. I mean, it was just money, it didn’t matter. I didn’t even tell her I was going to do this. Maybe I should have.

Eleventh floor. I definitely should have. This was an asinine idea. I don’t know what I was thinking. I have my nephew’s ball game to go to tomorrow, and I told him I wasn’t going to miss it.

First floor. Damn, Jake will be

It kind of came out of nowhere, but it's decent.
